Volunteer

The Sollar Wellness Center welcomes volunteers to help us enrich the lives of the people we serve and the general community. We provide numerous opportunities for people of all ages to share their knowledge or expertise. All volunteers will be trained and oriented to their specific volunteer jobs. Some volunteer positions may require personal background checks or medical information before starting. All volunteers under 18 will require parental consent. Here are some specific ways that you can volunteer your time or talents at the Sollar Wellness Center:

Conduct a Long-Term or One-Time Class

The Sollar Wellness Center is always looking for volunteers who have a special talent or expertise and are interested in sharing it with the men and women at New England Village and the general public. We are very flexible as to when and how long you may volunteer with us. Through our Enrichment Programs department you will be given guidance on how best to conduct your class. Here are a few suggested areas. (If your talent or expertise is not listed here, please feel free to run it by us!).

  • Visual Arts (Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, and more)
  • Arts & Crafts • Performing Arts (Dance, Theatre)
  • Cooking
  • Sports/Fitness/Team Coaching
  • Academics (Basic Reading, Writing & Arithmetic; History; Languages; Current Events; etc.)
  • Gardening/Horticulture
  • Computers

Requirements: Be able to demonstrate/provide proof of your expertise in an area. Be open to working with people of all abilities.

Enrichment Assistant:

Like having a good time and have a flexible schedule? Then this is the perfect volunteer opportunity for you. Assist the Enrichment Programs department with their many activities and fun events, including bingo nights, fitness and art classes, music offerings, parties, or Special Olympic sports teams. You may be asked to help prep an activity, set up chairs and tables, serve food or simply mix and mingle. Activities and events are held days and evenings at various dates throughout the year, so come and assist at as many events as your schedule allows

Requirements: Must be open to meeting new people and have a fun personality.
